Award-winning poet Sandra Beasley will give a reading of her work at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 at Lawrence Technological University.
 Beasley is the author of two collections of poetry – "I Was the Jukebox," winner of the 2009 Barnard Women Poets Prize, and "Theories of Falling," winner of the 2007 New Issues Poetry Prize.
A memoir, "Don't Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life," was published last year.
 Beasley's poetry has appeared in numerous literary journals and has been anthologized by Poetry Daily and Verse Daily. The Washington Post Magazine has featured her nonfiction, and she is a former editor of the journal, " The American Scholar," the literary quarterly of the Phi Beta Kappa Society.
 All who attend will be automatically entered into a free raffle to win a copy of one of Beasley's books. This event is presented by Lawrence Tech's Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication with support from a Coleman Foundation grant.
